Today's Reading:
  Ezekiel 23-25; James 3

Today's Thoughts:
But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:33

A couple of years ago, Macy’s department store was boycotted by Christians who were upset at their policy of refusing to publicly advertise the words “Merry Christmas.” The employees could only say “happy holidays,” not “Merry Christmas”. In a town in Florida, a Christian homeowner filed a lawsuit against her city on behalf of a policy that refused to allow her to display a Nativity scene in her yard. Jewish symbols and religious practices were allowed but not Christian. She won her suit on the basis of discrimination. Since these events, more tolerance has been shown towards less “Christ-mas” and more “happy holidays.” In other words, we are seeing more compromise than ever before, maybe because the fight is too hard.

From small town to big city, discrimination against Christians is rampant. It seems that every type of religion imaginable is accepted, even encouraged, except Christianity. If religious freedom is a constitutional amendment, then why is the Christian religion ostracized? Why is our Christmas attacked in the media, in the schools and in the holiday festivities? Do they know the Reason for the Season? Well, Satan sure does. He knows that the Reason is Jesus Christ. And, he knows the power in the name of Christ, so the war is on to get that Name removed. The only ones who can stop this momentum are us---the Christians.

Are we willing to stand up and fight back? The Christmas season no doubt magnifies the problem because the name of Christ is blatantly displayed. If we are not willing to speak up during this season, how will speak up on a day-to-day basis? Each of us must choose our battles, and pray for wisdom and love in how to handle the conflicts. The times are only going to get harder on Christians and we must continue to pray for the strength in the Lord to know what to do.
