The Creator... or Created: Day by Day

Today's Scripture

"Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track. Don't assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life!" - Proverbs 3:5-8 MSG

Thoughts for Today

In our quest to give our whole heart to God, to serve the Creator and not the created, we should never reach the point where we think we have "arrived." Seeking God is a daily quest. Tammy realizes that. "Each day as I offer my heart in its entirety to God, I realize that now the biggest idol in my life is the one who looks back at me from the mirror. I can still be selfish and self-serving; often I long to put my own desires above God's. God wants us to desire first and foremost to please Him. Since my heart still has the potential to lead me astray, there are many times when I am called to follow my conscience rather than my heart. My prayer remains: 'Lord, help me to see things as they are and not as my heart tells me they are.'"

Consider this…

As long as we live on this earth, we will be faced with new temptations, new situations. When we rest on past victories, we might want to stay in a comfort zone--a dangerous place to be. A place where we can be lulled into a false sense of security because we think we are doing pretty well. We depend more and more on ourselves and less and less on God. And then we think more about what we want--and less about what God wants.

God's Word tells us not to figure out everything on our own--but to listen for His voice in everything we do, everywhere we go. Seek Him daily. His will. His plan. Only then can you become all He has created you to be.

Prayer

Father, forgive me for the times I've become complacent. The times I have moved ahead thinking I would be fine doing things my way. Help me to seek you daily. Your will. Your plan. Your strength. In Jesus' name …

Lessons Learned: Moving from Homosexuality to Holiness by Tammy Webb-Witholt. This group study offers biblical tools, along with an abundance of hope, to anyone struggling with homosexuality. It is also a great group for anyone desiring a deeper walk with God. Note: This curriculum was written especially for small groups, and we encourage people to use it that way. However, it can also be used effectively as a personal study.
