Romans 6:4

Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

The Christian life is not just morally better than the non-Christian life—it’s of a completely different quality!

When you were united with Christ, you became a different kind of being than you used to be. You used to be “in Adam” (1 Corinthians 15:22), but now you are “in Christ” (Ephesians 2:13). That makes you new! A truth we began this New Year with, 2 Corinthians 5:17, is worth celebrating again: “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”

You can choose to live your old way of life, focused on yourself. But that’s not “you” anymore. The new you, “in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth” (Ephesians 4:24).

Remember that God isn’t just with you, He indwells you through the work of the Holy Spirit and the life of Christ in you. The Christian life isn’t about trying harder to resist temptation and overcome barriers. It’s about deepening your daily relationship with the Lord Jesus and inviting Him to live His way of life through you.

Right now, ask the Lord: “Live through me today. I’m willing to do what You want with my life.”
