Is prosperity bad? What does it really mean? Does God want me to prosper?
Before we start talking about prosperity, I’d like to give a definition of the word. Because if you say “prosperity,” it may mean a dozen different things in a dozen different people’s minds. So this is a good, biblical definition of prosperity: Having sufficient means to meet your needs with enough left over to bless somebody else.
Does it mean I’m a preacher? Does it mean I’m well-liked? Does it mean I serve God overseas?
My church in southern California is in a very unique and famous part of the world. People around the world know about the area because southern California is the heart of the entertainment industry. That’s why a number of people migrate here every year hoping to be discovered, wanting to become a star and become famous.
It’s quite easy to see that we live in very uncertain times. When you add to this the personal challenges people face with their health, marriage, kids, job, or any number of things, it’s easy for a person to wonder, “Is there any hope for the future?”
Can I save my marriage? Is there hope for my wayward child? Can I undo the damage I’ve done?
I want to talk to you about those times when you face a crisis in your relationships… whether it’s in your marriage, your family, or some other relationship. Maybe you’ve got a great marriage… or things are great with your kids… but we all face relational crises at one time or another, including you.
So I hope what I have to share with you will help when you face those times.
