Glorify God

For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

—1 Corinthians 6:20

As Christians, we need to recognize that we have been bought with a price. We belong to God. Therefore, our lives are His. Our resources are His. Our future is His. Everything we have belongs to God. So we should take our gifts and abilities and say, “I offer it all to You, Lord. I want to serve You with my life.”

God has not called all of us to preach, but He has called all of us to proclaim the gospel.  He has called every one of us to service in some capacity. We need missionary journalists with biblical values. We need Christian lawyers. We need Christian law enforcement officialswho will be true peace officers as they bring the message of the Prince of Peace. We need Christian firefighters, secretaries, businessmen, and car dealers.

My point is that whatever we do, we can do it for the glory of God. If you are called to be a pro surfer, that is good. Surf for the glory of God. And if you win a contest, acknowledge that God helped you do it. Whatever it is, glorify Him in all that you do.  Give honor to Him.  Give praise to Him.

One day you will stand before God, and He will ask you what you did with the gifts and abilities He gave you.  He won’t hold you accountable for what He called someone else to do.  But He will hold you accountable for what He called you to do.  If you have been faithful, then you will receive a reward.

So be faithful with what God has given to you.  And as 1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “Glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
