Just as athletes compete to win, so do we in the human arena. The contestants we battle, however, are frequently ourselves, our circumstances, and struggles we wage against the powers of darkness in this fallen world. While our personal scorecard may reveal a lackluster performance, God wants each of us to take the ultimate prize -- the crown of life -- already won for us by Jesus Christ.
In Winning The Race, host Chris Schneider reminds the viewer that when it comes to life everlasting, winning is the only option. This three-session, Men's NetWork Bible study features Chris Schneider speaking plainly to the fact that though "we were all born losers," Christ has "turned us into winners." Noting teams like the 1969 New York Mets or the 1985 Chicago Bears, he reminds us that just like those teams, which didn't appear to have a chance of taking the World Series' or Super Bowl titles, we, too, have come from behind to take it all -- courtesy of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the ultimate Champion.
As believers we know the game of life stretches out ahead of us, and as such it demands our attention and wholehearted participation. This involves personal growth in our faith-walk, but it also includes learning how to operate as a team -- as the body of Christ in this world. Here is where congregational life can be so important, as we learn from each other, sharing our strengths and encouraging one another to give it everything he or she has got.
