Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.

--Romans 14:13

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, you and I have been given a tremendous gift: the forgiveness of our sins.

And as a result, you and I are people who are deeply indebted… it’s an indebtedness that should directly impact our lives. This means we have a responsibility not to do anything that would cause a weaker brother or sister to stumble into sin.

Now, it’s important you realize that I’m not endorsing any form of legalism. But I want to ask you, is there anything you’re doing or saying that could cause a brother or sister in Christ to stumble… to fail in their Christian walk?  I know this isn’t the easiest question to answer.

I want to challenge you today to eliminate anything from your life that might make another brother or sister trip up. Because as a follower of Christ, you have the responsibility… you owe the debt… to only “pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding” (Romans 14:19).

PAY ATTENTION TO THE DEBT YOU OWE YOUR WEAKER BROTHER OR SISTER.
