They jeered at us and despised us and said, “What is this thing that you are doing?”

--Nehemiah 2:19

All leaders face resistance and take flak, especially those who make a decision to be a true Christian leader.

In the second chapter of the book which bears his name, Nehemiah was busy rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem—a task God had given him to do. But he was also receiving some unwelcome scrutiny from others. Nehemiah’s enemies mocked and laughed at him as he tried to honor God.

What made Nehemiah different was that he never got down about the ridicule he received. Instead, he responded in full confidence that God would give him success.

As a Christian, there will always be opposition when God calls you to do something. And it will often come from the evil one himself, Satan. That’s why we need to have confidence as Nehemiah did that Christ will give us success no matter who or what opposes us!

No worthwhile task is ever easy, so pray today that you won’t be discouraged or distracted away from your call to obey Jesus Christ.
