By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command. By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible. --Hebrews 11:23-27

If you want to develop an overcoming faith, it’s important to remember what God says in 1 John 5:4, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

Moses was a man of great faith. And one of the things that made his faith strongest was his willingness to make a break with the world…an example each of us should follow today.

When Pharaoh tried to oblige Moses by telling him to stay in Egypt to worship God, Moses adamantly refused. He knew Egypt was a land of bondage and that his people could never freely worship God there.

This is the same trick the devil tries to play on you and me today. He wants us to play the religious game…to look godly, but to really deny the power of God. To not really trust in Him.

You and I must learn to separate ourselves from the world…and to overcome the world through our trust in God and His Word. Only then will we develop a faith that will help us weather any storm we face.

LEARNING TO MAKE A BREAK WITH THE WORLD WILL HELP MAKE YOUR FAITH STRONG.
