Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

--Colossians 3:2

When we were young we thought the best day of our lives was the day we could leave home and be our own person. But for the Christian the best day is not leaving home, it’s coming home…because the very best day you and I will ever have as Christians is the day we see Jesus face to face.

I believe God gives Christians a strong desire for heaven, where we will be in His glorious presence forever.   The apostle Paul had it. He said he preferred to go and be with Christ even though he knew he was still needed in Christ’s work on earth.

The great thing about a desire for heaven is that it can, and should, impact the way we live on earth. When we desire God, we find ourselves also desiring those things that we know please Him. I think it’s interesting that if we have a strong desire for those things that are good, pure, and holy, we don’t have room for the wrong kind of desires.  It’s what I call being “heaven-hearted.”

The best way I know to be ready for heaven is to have a pure heart and desires that are fixed on God and His kingdom is. So let me ask you, what is your mind set on today? If your strongest desire is to live for Christ and see His work done on earth, then you are well prepared for the best day you will ever have as a Christian.

MAKE TODAY THE BEST DAY IT CAN POSSIBLY BE BY SETTING YOUR MIND ON THINGS ABOVE.
