Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?

--1 Corinthians 6:19

If you’re a Christian, then the Holy Spirit is living inside of you right now! I don’t know about you, but I am amazed by that truth! The God of the universe is dwelling in you and me, making our bodies His earthly home!!

One of the implications of this is that we should consider our bodies as holy. I doubt if any Christian would even think of committing some sin right in the middle of a church service while people are worshiping God. I’m sure we would consider that despicable—but that’s really the same kind of thing we’re doing when we commit a sin against our own body.

We should treat our body with respect, much like you would a church. Doing something physically harmful to your body dishonors the Lord and the place that He chose to live in. Besides this, when you misuse your body or fail to care for it, you minimize your effectiveness for Christ.

A Christian is made up of body, mind, and spirit. These three must be “in sync” for us to be maximally effective for the Lord.

If physical fitness is not a part of your regular routine, choose today as the day you start taking better care of God’s temple. You don’t have to do it all at once. Start with a walk around the block, or set a goal to be more watchful in what you eat.

Make sure you are doing everything you can to live a healthy and productive life for Christ!

HONOR YOUR BODY AS A TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD!
