Assuredly I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom. --Matthew 16:28

A man was spending the evening at a chalet in the Swiss Alps. It was still dark where he was sleeping. But suddenly, there was an explosion — a great noise and light — that burst through his window. It was so loud that the traveler thought it was the end of the world and he began to panic.

You see, he was on the western side of the mountain. On the eastern side of the mountain the sun was coming up. And every morning when the sun rose, it would cause a great avalanche and explosion of the snow. Just when the man thought it was the end of the world on the dark side, the sun was coming up and it was a glorious brand, new day!

There is a glorious new day coming for every believer. Paul said, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come…” (2 Timothy 3:1). There are a lot of people that want to experience God, but don’t want to share Him with others. We’re not to be upon the mountain top, gazing into the heavens with our second coming suits on ready for the rapture. We’re to be in the meantime down in the valley living transformed lives, meeting the needs of hurting people all around us, and winning them to Jesus.

When it gets to be the darkest and man has failed fully and finally, lift up your eyes and give praise God, for your redemption is drawing near. It may be dark right now and you may wring your hands in worry about the age of rage that surrounds us, but He is coming again in glory. At your job, in your school, or in your neighborhood, search out those who are lost and bring them to Jesus so that they may also experience this approaching new day.
