“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.” --Deuteronomy 30:19-20

Years ago, Suzanne and Charles had 15 beautiful children. One evening, they were awakened to smoke and flames bellowing through their house. They got the children out and were standing outside to watch the destruction when they realized that little Johnny didn’t make the trip with them. He was still trapped in the house!

Charles attempted to rush back in to try and save his little boy, but others restrained him from re-entering the flames. Both mother and father noticed in the window upstairs Johnny peering out with flames rising behind him. The men of that community formed a human ladder stacking themselves on top of one another all the way to the second floor where they broke through the window and snatched Johnny out of the fire and delivered him to safety.

Little Johnny grew up to be John Wesley, one of the greatest and most influential Christian evangelists who ever lived. He became the founder of the Methodist Church and later said, “I was snatched from the brands that night.” Imagine how many lives could be “snatched from the brands” if believers would share their faith with others and rescue them from hell.

The right choice in life is to live in peace with God, yourself, and others. In order to do that you must renew your conscious in the Word of God, restore responsibility in your life, require accountability from others, and receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. The most important choice you could ever make is to choose Jesus Christ, live under His Lordship, live in the power of His Spirit, and share His love every day with someone else.

WHEN YOU MAKE CHRIST LORD OF YOUR LIFE, YOU CHOOSE LIFE OVER DEATH.
