And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground.

--1 Samuel 17:49

David stepped out onto the field of battle and killed Goliath with only a sling and stone. And like him, I want to help you defeat the Goliath you may be facing in your own life!

One way to start defeating those giants is to determine to do so! Any battle can be won by those who are persistent. But with that determination comes three things you’ll have to overcome when you decide to pick up your sling.

First of all, you’re going to have to overcome your fears. David had his eyes on the Lord. And when you put your eyes on the Lord, you’ll be able to stand before any challenge you face!

Second, you’re going to have to overcome the jeers. I wonder how many believers have been laughed out of the victory they could have won for Christ. Just like David, you and I must learn to ignore the raised eyebrows and sarcastic comments and press on.

Lastly, you’re going to have to overcome your peers. There will always be people who say it’s impossible! But if you’ve been on your face before God and have determined what God wants you to do, you’ll be able to overcome your peers.

No matter what giant you may be facing today, you can defeat it with a steadfast determination and dependence on the Lord. Stand on this promise today!

ANY BATTLE CAN BE WON BY THOSE WHO ARE PERSISTENT.
