If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

--2 Chronicles 7:14

Today our nation celebrates yet another birthday. Americans everywhere will rejoice in our freedom with fireworks, flags, barbeques, and fellowship with family and friends. Yesterday, churches all across the nation presented patriotic tributes to our great country. I am still moved when I think of the men and women who gave their lives for our freedom, and those who are still serving our country today.

God has blessed America abundantly. Our nation has grown to become one of the grandest on earth, but in today’s culture, America has become rebellious. On April 30, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln made a proclamation for a national day of fasting, humiliation, and prayer. He said:

“We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven. We have been preserved these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious Hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us. … Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient, too proud to pray to the God that made us. It behooves us then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.”

Our nation has become “intoxicated” with immorality through abortion, homosexuality, sexual immorality, idol worship, and more. Many people today have launched an onslaught of attacks against God’s power and presence in our government, educational systems, and in everyday life.

We have allowed God to be dismissed from our foundational beginnings as Americans—including today’s school rooms, government facilities, and increasingly more public places. History shows that our forefathers included God in every aspect of building up this country from the constitution to the pledge of allegiance and from Declaration of Independence to our coins and dollars, but people are gradually removing His name from everything we hold so dear.

Christians, get on your knees and confess to God your personal and national sins. Revival will penetrate and spread throughout our nation when we begin to earnestly seek God’s presence in our country. Our pledge of allegiance says that our country was founded as “one nation under God with liberty and justice for all.” Thank God today for the blessings, protection, and freedom He has given us. Ask for God to renew your heart and spirit on this holiday and seek to put God back into the United States of America.

TRUE FREEDOM COMES FROM THE ALMIGHTY GOD…

SEEK TO BRING OUR NATION BACK TO ITS DIVINE ROOTS.
