For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

                                                                                      --1 Corinthians 3:11

The very best place to live for Jesus Christ and build the foundation of all society is in the home. All the years I’ve studied the Scriptures, I’ve noticed that God has always constructed and built homes. In the Garden of Eden, He built the first home. He established marriage and the family when He created man and woman and placed them in the garden.

When Christ came to this earth He said, “On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). And therefore, Jesus established the church home for members of God’s family to live and grow.

And, of course, the Bible is written that we might know that we have eternal life and forgiveness of sins because Christ died on the cross and rose again. He said, “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2b-3).

I say this to make emphasize that every person ought to have three homes. You ought to have a family home, a church home, and an eternal home. I’d like to zero in on the earthly home today. The home is to be a training place. The father of Christian psychology in this generation, Dr. Henry Brant, has said many times that a parent is a partner with God in making disciples out of their children.

As you make your home the university of life, there are several key principles that you ought to give your children that we will discuss over the next few days. If you are a parent, you have a responsibility to “train up” your child in the way he or she should go (see Proverbs 22:6). If you have hopes to be a parent one day, then you’ll want to pay close attention how to make your future home a place of training. And if you already have grown children and even grandchildren, you still have the responsibility of leaving behind a legacy of faith and being a godly example to your family. Ask God to build your home up as the university of life for your family.

YOUR CHILDREN WILL LEARN VALUES, MORALS, AND FAITH IN JESUS

CHRIST IN YOUR HOME—THE UNIVERSITY OF LIFE.
