Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
--Genesis 2:24

Eve is described as a “helper” in the book of Genesis. Now, to many this word may seem like a derogatory term, but the complete opposite is true. This is a very positive term; it means an ally, a friend, and a rescuer.

I know it won’t surprise you, but men aren’t quite perfect by themselves! God knew this, and so He created women to meet the needs of men, which are abundant at times. A man needs a woman to help him maximize his strengths and minimize his weaknesses.

We are told that unmarried men don’t live as long as married men. This is one of the facts that show how much men need the love and companionship of a woman to share life with.

The woman is designed to be a completer and a complement to the man. When God brings a man and a woman together in marriage, He is giving that man someone who can meet very specific needs in his life.

Of course, the caring and helping in marriage flows both ways, because in Ephesians 5, a man is commanded to love his wife the way Christ loves the Church. God knows what it takes to fulfill both partners in a marriage.

Man and woman were perfectly made and designed to share life together. Thank God today for the infinite wisdom of His plan.

MAN AND WOMAN ARE DESIGNED TO COMPLEMENT AND COMPLETE ONE ANOTHER. HOW WELL ARE YOU FULFILLING HIS DESIGN?
