God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
--Genesis 1:5

The first chapter of the Bible is the amazing story of how God created everything in the world in just six days, capping off His work with the creation of man and woman. This was without a doubt the most productive week in history!

Throughout Genesis 1, there are references to six separate days of creation. There are disagreements as to whether the days of creation are literal 24-hour periods, or just the Bible’s way of speaking of long periods of time. I happen to believe that the Scriptures talk of actual 24-hour days, because that’s what the Word says.

This truth should make us stand in awe of God every day. When you wake up tomorrow morning, the air you will breathe, the sunrise you will see, and the plants you will pass by all came directly as a result of God’s handiwork in just a six-day period!

Genesis 1:16 shows us just how awesome and majestic God is. This verse states that He made the sun, the moon, the stars, and all the galaxies of this universe. Think of it. The stars all came into being with just a word from God, a wave of His holy hand! The multiplied millions of galaxies that we still know so little about were created instantly in God’s creative work.

This verse is quite an understatement! God’s creative power is awesome! But here’s the best part of the story: This God who created the world also made you and loves you. Let that thought fill your mind today, and everything you do will take on new meaning.

THE GOD WHO MADE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE CREATED YOU AND LOVES YOU!
