Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.

--Titus 2:3-5

The first priority of a wife, a mother, and of all women is to live for Jesus Christ. The second priority… if you’re married and you have a family… is to take care of the needs of your family.

The Christian wife and mother’s primary mission is to make the home a royal residence for the Lord of glory and for the family of faith. That is your mission in life! Caring for the home means loving your husband, developing your children, and managing your household affairs.

Now, there is nothing in Scripture that forbids a woman from working outside the home, but it is absolutely clear in the Bible that the mother’s priority is in the home.

I certainly understand when single moms are required to work just to make ends meet. And I understand sometimes it becomes a financial necessity for a mother to work.

But make sure before you leave that home to go to work, wife and mother, that it is God calling you to do it and not the world calling you to do it.

The highest calling in life… if God gives you children… is your calling as a wife and a mother. Don’t accept a lesser calling if God doesn’t call you from that exalted place! Don’t let the world squeeze you into its mold.

THE CHRISTIAN WIFE AND MOTHER’S PRIMARY MISSION IS TO MAKE THE HOME A ROYAL RESIDENCE FOR THE LORD OF GLORY AND FOR THE FAMILY OF FAITH.
