When I was a son with my father, tender, the only one in the sight of my mother, he taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live.”

--Proverbs 4:3-4

The book of Proverbs teaches us what wise families look like.

But sometimes…in the crush of day-to-day life…it’s easy to just operate on autopilot and not engage with our families. Yet if we as parents aren’t engaged with our kids, who will engage with them?

Your children will be influenced by someone. And wouldn’t you rather it be you?

Today’s world is not an easy place to grow up. Our children are constantly exposed to outside influences that encourage them to grow up too fast. They’re bombarded by images you would prefer they never see and pressures that are unbelievable.

And if you aren’t there to show them the alternative, they will embrace the world’s values as their reality.

What’s the best way to model Christ for your children? Know Him yourself. Spend time with your heavenly Father. Make it a priority. There’s nothing more important.

Then you will be able to pass on the legacy of God’s love and grace, and you’ll be able to show them that Christ is where they’ll find real contentment and peace.

Be a mom or dad that your child will one day call blessed!

Your kids will be influenced by someone, SO make that person you!
