And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a de based mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

--Romans 1:28-32

Our society has become twisted in its sexuality, anti-God, and void of morality. I personally believe that somewhere in the 1980’s the scales tipped over and we became a secularized, post-Christian culture. You can’t deny that we’re living in a time which is woefully lacking in moral character. It’s not that we are just immoral, we are amoral—void of morality!

I read about a feminist who defines immoral sex not as being adultery, but as being with more than one person on the same day. Amoral! Jesus saw this world as a coven of witches and as a den of wolves. It seems almost hopeless, doesn’t it? Well, don’t feel as though there’s nothing left to do, yet. If we’re to live a black and white life in a gray world, we must:

  • Think scripturally - Many Christians don’t know their Bibles at all and therefore are more vulnerable to the attacks of evil. Be prepared with Scripture in your heart and mind to back up what you believe, so that you can live with deep moral convictions that are non-negotiable.
  • Live purely – Scripture says, “Be holy for I am holy.” Make it your goal to pursue godliness in everything you do. If you are a believer, then you are not your own. You have the Holy Spirit living in you who enables you to live a lifestyle that is pleasing to God, but it begins with a deep conviction and commitment to live a holy life.
  • Love generously – Jesus called this world one full of wolves and a coven of witches, but the fact is He came to die for those wolves and witches. And we are to take love and light of Christ to them. Begin passing along godly values to your family, stand up for what you believe in your job, and speak out against those who try to demoralize and defame the name of God.

When you think scripturally, live purely, and love generously, you will be a witness to those living in darkness. Many will try to extinguish the light and persecute you for taking a stand, but keep shining. God will keep your torch lit in the power of the Holy Spirit and you will change lives around you to the glory of His name.
