Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

--1 Peter 1:13

In the verse above, we have a mighty motivator for living the life we discussed in yesterday’s devotional…a life that’s different, that’s separated from sin. That motivation is the expectation of Jesus Christ’s soon coming.

“The revelation of Jesus Christ” refers to the second coming of Christ. And in view of His soon return, we ought to be motivated to live godly lives!

As a matter of fact, the Scripture says in 1 John 3:3, “And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.” If you really believe that Jesus is coming, you will live a holy life!

What if you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus was coming today? That before this day was done He would come and take us to be with Him?

Would there be some things in your life you need to change? Would you have to scurry around to make sure some things were settled between friends or family members?

Would you have to rush out and tell someone about Jesus?

When we get married, every decision, every plan, every thought is focused on the day when we’ll stand at the altar. In the same way, as the bride of Christ, the Church, you and I should live every day with the expectancy of His return.

christ’s imminent return SHOULD IMPACT the way you live your life
