“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.

--Romans 9:15-16

Did you know that God chose you?

Sometimes, we get caught up in our decision to accept Christ and forget that, as Scripture says, “We loved Him because He first loved us.”

It’s not by natural birth or human descent that we are placed into the family of God. But it is by new birth and that new birth takes place by the choice of God in our lives.

Why are we chosen? Why are we blessed? I don’t know. And neither do you. We need to learn to let God be God. God chose us before we were born. And that is not an unjust choice.

Paul said in Romans 9:14, “What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means!”

We cannot begin to understand God. When you imagine all his attributes—His love, power, omnipotence, omnipresence, eternal being, holiness, and so much more—it is unfathomable to try to put God in a box.

But there is a balance between God’s plans and man’s responsibility. The sovereign choice of God and the moral responsibility of man run side by side. You and I are not saved because of our own goodness or righteousness.

As Christians, God chose you and me in Jesus Christ and offered His grace and love for us.

GIVE GOD THANKS TODAY FOR CHOOSING YOU!
