Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

--Hebrews 11:1

What does genuine faith look like?

So many people in our society today put their faith in self-help gurus, books, programs… the list goes on and on! And some people think that just believing in the power of positive thinking can somehow accomplish things in their lives.

But none of these things are examples of genuine faith!

Christian, it’s vitally important you’re not deceived into putting your faith anywhere else but in the one true God. Because He is the only One who is worthy of putting your true faith and hope in in this life!

Despite what our world says, genuine faith is not based on your feelings… your emotions… your life circumstances… or even in what you can see, as today’s verse reminds us.

Maybe today you’re struggling to put your faith in God. Maybe you have some intellectual questions that are keeping you from trusting in Him completely. If so, remember that it’s natural to have questions. It’s natural to want to understand as much as you can about God and the Christian faith.

But listen to me here: When you come to God with a genuine faith, your intellectual curiosities will be met and satisfied.

Please don’t think I am saying you must have the faith of a giant and never struggle through the difficulties of life. In Matthew 17:20, Jesus said that faith the size of a grain of mustard seed is a great faith.

No matter where you are in your walk with Christ today, it’s my prayer that you would develop a genuine and courageous faith in Jesus Christ… the only One who is worthy of your complete trust and hope!

genuine faith is not based on your feelings, your emotions, your life circumstances, or even in what you can see.
