Following the light of Christmas by faith

December 23, 2011

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Matthew 2:1-2

Each year about this time, someone comes up to me and says, “Pastor, what do you think the star of Bethlehem was?” Now, to be completely honest, I really don’t know. In fact, nobody alive today can say with certainty exactly what that star was. But more important than the identity of that star is the faith of the men who followed it.

These wise men, astrologers by trade, saw something in the night sky that prompted them to pack up everything and travel to Judah to find this king of the Jews. And by faith, they traveled what was probably close to 800 miles to find this newborn baby.

Now, I don’t know what happened to these wise men. They enter and exit the biblical story very quickly. But my conviction is that the same God who led these wise men from the far country to Bethlehem also led them thereafter and transformed their lives.

The light was turned on in their life. And this Christmas, the light can be turned on in your life as well. Maybe you need God’s light to shine brighter than ever today. If so, get up and follow Him by faith. When you do, Christ will lead you every day and transform your life as well!

AS THE STAR LED THE WISE MEN TO CHRIST, GOD’S LIGHT CAN DO THE SAME FOR YOU. FOLLOW HIM BY FAITH AND ALLOW CHRIST TO TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE THIS CHRISTMAS!

Stand strong for Christ in the coming year!

Dear Friend,

Over the past year, I’ve taken on a number of hot-button issues including marriage and divorce, the exclusivity of the Gospel, and the future of America.

So to help you stand strong for Christ in the coming year and give a defense for the hope that’s in you, I want to send you what I believe are my most important messages from 2011 together in one series called The Best of 2011.

In these 10 thought-provoking messages, I’ll show you how the Bible answers questions like, “How can I have a great family life?”, “Is there any other way but Jesus?”, and “What’s going to happen to our country in the coming years?”

The Best of 2011is my gift to thank you for your donation to PowerPoint this month. It’s my prayer that it would help you make and keep your new year’s resolution to grow closer with your Heavenly Father.

Thank you for your faithful gift. I’m grateful!

Jack Graham
