“You shall teach them diligently to your children.”

--Deuteronomy 6:7

How can you raise children who love and obey God? With passion and persistence.

In our verse today, the Hebrew word diligently means to penetrate, like the cutting of a knife. As a parent, your teaching must be strong enough that it penetrates.

Why is this so critical? As a parent, you must be passionate about what you believe because you are competing against messages from movies, music, friends, peers, marketing campaigns, and so much more.

Is it the passion of your life to see your children grow up to share your faith? You must do everything you can to teach them with conviction so that it’s credible and believable. You and I must be persistent and consistent as believers.

In fact, the impact of your passionate teaching will last beyond your children.

Deuteronomy 6:2 says, “That you may fear the LORD your God, you and your son and your son’s son, by keeping all his statues and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life….”

You and I are responsible, not only for this generation, but for the next and those that follow. Your legacy will live far beyond you and your children. Be passionate about what that legacy will be.

AS A PARENT, YOU MUST BE PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT YOU BELIEVE BECAUSE YOU ARE COMPETING AGAINST SO MANY OTHER MESSAGES!
