Which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them.

--Psalm 78:5-6

What’s your job description as a parent or grandparent? According to Psalm 78, we are to teach the next generation to put their faith and trust in God.

I believe the highest occupation in life is to raise godly children, lead them to Christ, and help them discover God’s plan and purpose for their lives.

How do you do that? By living a legacy.

Many people talk about leaving a legacy. And that’s good. But I prefer to think of my life as a living legacy.

And to live a legacy you need to make sure your children know that you are committed to Jesus Christ and to the upward call upon your life.

Sounds like a big responsibility, doesn’t it? But here’s how you can get started. You do the right thing today. You live for Jesus today in the power of the Holy Spirit today.

You ask God to help you invest in the lives of your children today with a genuine, authentic faith today.

Paul said this to young Timothy, “I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well” (2 Timothy 1:5).

Sincere faith is not always perfect, but it is one that is rooted in Jesus Christ. And it is a faith that is lived out moment by moment, hour by hour, day by day… starting with today.

MAKE AN EFFORT TO LIVE OUT YOUR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST TODAY.
