Your temporary mission and eternal focus

January 18, 2011

"For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the LORD of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall."

Malachi 4:1-2

It can be so disheartening, can't it? As I look around the world today, there is just so much evil. All you have to do is watch the evening news or read a paper, and the fallenness of the world becomes so clear. And it's in those times when it seems evil is winning the day that I like to remember today's passage.

You see, there are many people today who think God is up there in heaven with no clue about what's going on down here in the real world. "How can God let this happen?", they think to themselves.

But God is not aloof about what's going on in the world. In his abundant grace, he is waiting with patience to judge the evil in the world and make all things right.

So where's your focus? Do you like to sit back and comment on how bad the world is? Or, are you using this time that God has given you to make an eternal impact in a lost and dying world?

When you see evil winning, know that God is the ultimate victor and will prevail in that last day. But until then, use the time he has given you to spread the Good News of God's rescuer, Jesus Christ, to a broken world.

GOD WILL ONE DAY MAKE ALL THINGS RIGHT. UNTIL THEN, FOCUS ON MAKING AN IMPACT FOR HIM IN THIS WORLD.
