For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.

--Ephesians 2:14

Do you remember those incredible images of the Berlin Wall coming down in Germany? The photos and footage show masses of happy people on the wall… chipping away at the wall… and eventually flooding through it.

The world celebrated the tearing down of this wall because it represented that which separated the east from the west… those who were barricaded from those who were free.

But there’s another wall that is erected in the heart of every human being. It’s a wall that separates us from God. It’s a wall that many of us have built in our own lives that keeps us from knowing God and experiencing His amazing grace.

But our verse today gives us encouragement. The apostle Paul is giving us the good news of the gospel… that if you’re a believer, then Jesus Christ has torn down the wall that separates you from God!

So let me ask you today, is there a wall in your heart that’s separating you from God?

If there is, I can help you tear down that wall… right now. If you’re willing, why don’t you repeat this short prayer…

Lord Jesus, I know my sin stands as a wall of separation between me and You. But I am grateful for Your sacrifice on the Cross that tears down that wall. And I accept You as my Savior.

If you prayed the prayer above and meant it in your heart, I want to welcome you into the family of God! You are free in Jesus Christ!
