How to Keep Satan From Dragging You Down

June 12, 2013

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

James 4:7-8

For a good part of my life, I lived in West Palm Beach, Florida. I remember those days well, especially the many Saturdays we’d spend down at the beach with our kids. Now there’s one thing they tell you if you have kids at the beach: watch out for the undertow!

The undertow in the ocean is a current of water that can pull you under even if the surface of the water looks fine. It’s caused by water returning out to sea after a wave or tide has come in. But it’s not the force of an undertow that makes it dangerous; it’s that you can’t see it.

As Christians, we face spiritual undertows each and every day. And it’s not their strength that makes them so formidable; Satan is no match for Christ in you. What makes them dangerous is the fact that very often people are oblivious to the enemy’s work until he drags them under.

The solution to this problem is to get beneath the surface of our lives and start confronting the enemy’s schemes. Honestly assess where you’re struggling, take steps to curb Satan’s influence, and proclaim Christ in every area of your life!

STAY AFLOAT SPIRITUALLY BY LOOKING BELOW THE SURFACE OF YOUR LIFE AND DOING BATTLE AGAINST SATAN WHEREVER HE ATTACKS!
