And Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison. But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

--Genesis 39:20-21

There’s a phrase in today’s passage I want to you go back and reread: the LORD was with Joseph. Over and over again, we see this kind of phrase. The Lord was with Joseph. Everywhere Joseph went, the presence of God was with him!

In the very same way, no situation or circumstance can separate you as a believer from the presence of God. Joseph knew God was with him and was conscious of the presence of God in his life. In fact, that, my friend, was the secret to his life! He always knew…he always believed…that God was with him.

Whenever we experience times of adversity, we’ll only advance and mature by trusting in God instead of ourselves. We’ll succeed only when we’re dependent on Him rather than running to the latest self-help craze.

Today, I encourage you to commit this verse to memory: “It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 31:8).

You can lose your job, you can lose your career, you can lose your mate, you can lose your home…you can even lose your youthful beauty! But if you’re a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, you cannot lose Him!

As a believer, the Lord is always with you!
