How you can be in the center of God’s will

March 19, 2013

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:14-16

I remember back in the late 1980s, Herschel Walker was the star running back for the Dallas Cowboys. Walker was a committed Christian, and one day made the remark, “This may be my last season. I don’t need to play football to be fulfilled in life.” And as you can imagine, many misunderstood what Herschel was trying to say.

So the media asked the Cowboys’ General Manager Tex Schramm, “What does he mean? This is a great running back, and he’s saying that he doesn’t have to play football!” And Schramm was quoted as saying, “Herschel Walker is a Christian-thinking kind of person. He will do what the Lord has planned for him.”

Tex Schramm put it so well. Every Christian ought to be a Christian-thinking kind of person. We don’t think like the world thinks. We don’t see like the world sees because we have the mind of Christ.

To do the will of God is our primary purpose in life. That’s the wonderful adventure of faith those of us who know Jesus get to live. So no matter the conditions, no matter the cost, and no matter the risk, follow the mind of Christ. When you do, you’ll be centered in God’s perfect will for you!

FOLLOW THE SPIRIT AND HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST AND YOU’LL STAY IN THE CENTER OF GOD’S PERFECT WILL FOR YOUR LIFE.
