How to get a do-over in life

March 6, 2013

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

Matthew 6:14-15

A woman and her husband were parked by a runway one afternoon watching the planes take off and land. The past year for them had been wrought with financial struggles, marital unfaithfulness, and family problems. They were on the brink of divorce and didn’t know what to do.

“Have you ever wondered what it would be like to just start over?” the woman asked her husband. “I wish we could just get in one of those planes, disappear into the clouds, and start over somewhere completely different… like none of this ever happened.”

Many people are asking that very question. They want a new start. They wonder what it would be like to go back to the beginning, erase the mistakes that were made, and get a do-over in life. Can that happen? Does that kind of new beginning in life really exist? Yes!

The key to making it happen, though, is found in one simple word: forgiveness. In the same way God forgives those who repent and turn to Him, so we have the power of the Spirit to forgive others who wrong us and start anew.

A new start awaits you today when you, by the power of the Spirit inside of you, take the step and forgive others. It’s what Christ did for you. And if you do it, you can get the do-over you long to have!

GIVE OTHERS AND YOURSELF THE DO-OVER YOU NEED THROUGH SPIRIT-EMPOWERED FORGIVENESS!
