For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
--Isaiah 9:6
When Jesus came to this earth, part of His mission was to reveal what your heavenly Father is really like… the Everlasting Father.
This was important because God knew that you and I might compare Him to our earthly father… and that may not provide a true reflection of who He is.
Your heavenly Father is loving, wise, and faithful. He can be trusted, and He longs to spend time with you and to provide all of your needs. This may be a stark contrast to your experience with your earthly father… which is why God chose to reveal Himself to you through the living example of His Son.
Jesus said, “If you had known me, you would have known my Father also, and from now on you know Him and have seen Him… Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me…” (John 14:7, 11).
In the words He spoke and the acts of mercy He showed, Jesus was imitating His Father and showing you exactly what your Everlasting Father is really like.
He did this so you would come to your Father… with full confidence… and accept His love.
