The Blessing of your Heavenly Father

October 13, 2011

“And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.”

Matthew 23:9

There is a father crisis in our nation today. Now hopefully, you grew up with a father or parent who was a blessing to you. Throughout the Old Testament, the blessing of the father was passed on from generation to generation, and was extremely important.

Growing up, children need that kind of self-worth and sense of significance that can only come from their parents and, in particular, from their father. But I also realize that many people today, even some who grew up in Christian homes, have never received that validation and blessing from their earthly father.

As a result, many people live lives with a blessing that’s unfulfilled. They run through life without any sense of self-worth and self-importance. They’re struggling, striving, fighting, and never at peace because they’ve never felt blessed and affirmed by their own father!

Now, the good news is that, if you didn’t have that kind of fatherly example growing up, or you’re even seeking it today, you do have a Father in heaven who wants to speak a blessing over your life. So look to God your Father when you need that kind blessing because He’ll always be there for you!

GOD IS THE PERFECT FATHER. SO WHATEVER YOUR EARTHLY FATHER LACKED, LOOK TO BE FULFILLED IN YOUR HEAVENLY ONE!
