Overcoming your evangelism fears

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

--Acts 1:8

Do you get weak in the knees when you think about sharing your faith? Are you clueless about how to even begin witnessing?

According to our Scripture for today, witnessing is not a question of “if” but of “when.” Christ made it clear that God’s plan for every Christian is a life of faithfulness to be a witness for Him.

Unfortunately, a lot of Christians have this fear, or maybe a reluctance to share their faith. The good news is that you can overcome these obstacles!

I believe there are two simple principles that will help you be the witness God desires you to be.

First, recognize the adequacy of Jesus Christ in you through His Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “You willll be my witnesses when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.” See, the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives makes us more than adequate for everything we need as a witness. And when we recognize who we are in Christ, we can overcome our reluctance to share our faith.

Second, you and I must also develop certain skills that will help us share our faith. Now, God can use even the most limited witness, but you and I should want to fully develop our evangelism skills as followers of Jesus Christ. And as you learn the skills to share your faith with others, God will use you under any circumstances, wherever you are.

BEGIN PRACTICING YOUR EVANGELISM SKILLS BY THINKING ABOUT YOUR OWN PERSONAL TESTIMONY. WHAT HAS GOD DONE IN YOUR LIFE?
