Living your life for today

September 26, 2011

This is the day that the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24

I know so many people today who live their lives in the past. They dwell on how much better things used to be, how bad they are today, and the best way to turn back the clock and get things back to how they were before it all went so wrong!

And you know, I’m grateful for the past. I’m grateful for what God has done in the Old Testament, the New Testament, and leading up to today throughout the history of the Church. I also love that you and I can look back and see how He has remained the same yesterday and today, and by that, we can know He’ll be faithful tomorrow!

But today is God’s day. God is no less responsible for creating this day than He is for the first day of creation. And He has called you and me on this day to make a difference for His Kingdom in our times.

Maybe today you find yourself looking backwards on the journey of life. Maybe you’ve thought, “I just wish God would work today like He used to work in the past.” But let me tell you that God is as alive and active today as He’s ever been in history! So trust in Him to work in and through you today and just watch what He will do!

LIVE YOUR LIFE NOT BY LOOKING BACKWARD, BUT BY OBSERVING HOW GOD IS WORKING IN AND THROUGH YOU TODAY!
