Your choices impact others

December 4, 2009

"All things are lawful for me," but not all things are helpful.

--1 Corinthians 6:12

As Christ-followers, some choices that you and I face are spelled out clearly in the Scripture.

We are told not to lie, not to steal, not to commit adultery, and so on. And while some personal choices are a little less obvious, they are still extremely important.

You may be someone who can have a glass of wine and have it not adversely affect you. You may have no tendency toward alcohol abuse or addiction. But that's really not the question. We have to be aware of how our choices impact our progress toward Christ-likeness, and how they impact others.

This is what the apostle Paul is saying in today's verse. There are things that may be legal for you to do, but those things may not advance your growth in Christ Jesus. And those choices may distract others from seeing Jesus in you.

So regarding that glass of wine… or whatever choice you are considering… ask yourself how it will affect others... your children… your grandkids, or your friends. How will it affect your witness among strangers?

You see, you have a calling that is higher than laws. You have a God-given purpose. Your purpose is to live your life, and to make choices, that will bring honor and glory to your Savior Christ Jesus! Be no one's alibi for not coming to Christ.

YOU HAVE A CALLING THAT IS HIGHER THAN LAWS.
YOU HAVE A GOD-GIVEN PURPOSE!

OUR THANKS TO YOU!

Pause: Resting in God Instead of Stressing Out

Dear Friend,

Do the words rested... peaceful... and refreshed describe you today? Or do the words stressed... rushed... and pressured better describe your way of life?
If you're like most Christians, you'd probably have to admit those last three words more accurately describe your life most of the time!
The good news is that it doesn't have to be this way... even when your life is one big pressure-cooker. And in my new book, Pause: Resting in God Instead of Stressing Out, I'll show you why.
Based on the principles from Paul's letter to the Philippians and Psalm 23Pause: Resting in God Instead of Stressing Out will help you find true peace and rest in a world that is anything but peaceful and restful. It's the perfect "pause" button you need!
So please request your copy of Pause: Resting in God Instead of Stressing Out when you give online today!  --Jack Graham
