The Paper Cut
by Berni Dymet

Col. 2:13,14 And when you were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with him, when he forgave us all our trespasses, erasing the record that stood against us with its legal demands. He set this aside, nailing it to the cross.

Have you ever had a paper cut? It's really painful isn't it - and it stays with you constantly for a few days.

To be honest - I tend to feel a bit sorry for myself when I get the odd paper cut. Poor old me.

Imagine then, imagine the pain that shot through Jesus when they drove nails through His hands and His feet - as they tore through His flesh. And not only that - but … then, they lifted up the cross - and He hung there, by those same nails … His whole weight tearing at those nail holes in His flesh.

You and I - we're pretty good at sweeping our sin under the carpet. Even that word - SIN - it's become a bit of a joke in society these days.

But when you and I … we see Jesus hanging there on that cross - you know -God didn't sweep our sin under the carpet.

He took it so seriously, He put it on His Son - and nailed Him to a cross.
