A Custom of Prayer – Beloved Women – May 6, 2019

READ\

“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.” – Daniel 6:10  NKJV

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT

Daniel is arguably one of the strongest people in Biblical history. He faced peril more than once in his lifetime, but he stood strong on his faith. How did he hold it together when he defied the king who was called a “destroyer of nations,” or when he was thrown into the den of hungry lions? How did Daniel get the courage and strength that his life so exemplified? I believe the answer lies in a phrase near the end of today’s verse - “as was his custom.”

Daniel didn’t pray three times on that day because he was now facing danger. It is something he did every day. His faith and spiritual muscle had been built up “since the early days.” Sisters, seek the Lord daily. Get to know Him well. When trouble comes, and it will come, you will trust the One who holds you in the palm of His hand.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, what a privilege you’ve granted me that I can talk to you! Thank You. Lord, I repent for taking that privilege for granted. Please help me make prayer my custom. I want to know you better. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

REFLECT

Would it help you in developing a custom of prayer to set aside a specific time of day? Do not set a time to check it off of your to-do list, but set aside time because it’s important and you don’t want anything to interfere with it.
