Hands Over Heart – Beloved Women – August 27, 2020

READ: ^“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 ESV)

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: “Do you bring your hands to me or your heart?”

During a time of prayer, I heard the Lord ask this simple question. If I’m honest, being a mom of six, teacher, and leader in my church, means there’s little time for much. There are times when I would like for God to simply do what I need Him to do, as quickly as possible so I can get to my “regularly scheduled program.” Yet, in Matthew 6:33, we are reminded that our first response towards God isn’t to just ask for what we need, but to seek Him. When we do so, the Lord will provide your needs. It seems today, we have our view of God’s role upside down. We forget He is the King of Kings. We ignore that He is the Creator of the Universe. Shouldn’t we spend more time in awe of even having an opportunity to speak to such majesty?

When we seek God’s hand more than His heart, we become entitled children versus lovers of His presence. Today, I encourage you to seek a relationship with Him more than just bringing Him your needs. He desires your heart more than your hands.

PRAY: Lord, I bring You my heart. Forgive me, if I’ve neglected my relationship with You. Lord, I love You and thank You for Your presence in my life. Help me to not be so focused on what I can get from You that I forget to simply rest in You. Let me never take Your goodness for granted. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
