He is the Only Way – Beloved Women – September 3, 2020
READ: “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12 ESV)
TODAY'S ENCOURAGEMENT: If you've spent a significant amount of time behind the wheel of a car, you may have seen the COEXIST bumper sticker. The bumper stickers first began to emerge in the United States in the early 2000s in partial response to the military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, which started after the events of September 11, 2001.
The bumper stickers expressed the capability or desire of humans to live together in peace. Each letter symbolically represents prevalent religions, with the overriding theme that all religions should be able to coexist. This bumper sticker aims to nullify the high priority of salvation. While there may be many roads, salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ.
Peter could boldly proclaim the power of salvation because he was intimately familiar with its power. In the previous chapter, Peter had just healed a lame man - a man who was at least 40 years old and disabled for the better part of his life. Using the power that comes through salvation, Peter and John told the lame man to get up and walk. And he did. He walked and leaped and praised God. So when questioned by the authorities of the day, Peter could say with all the authority given to him through the Holy Spirit - "salvation in no one else," because no one else had the power to heal.
As a believer, you have salvation that is only found in Jesus Christ.
PRAY: Lord Jesus, I want to know You like Peter did and boldly proclaim You in everything I do. I thank you that you don't want anyone to perish, so I accept your precious gift of salvation. Lord work mightily through me, just as You did in Peter. In Jesus' name, Amen.
