Learning to Seek God’s Face – Beloved Women – December 9, 2019

READ

“You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.” (Psalm 27:8 ESV)

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT

It always amazes me how excited we get when our favorite artist comes in town for a concert, or a new festival is headed to our city; yet when it comes to church, our attitudes are sometimes more somber. Maybe it is because it is so easy to get into a routine of church. We come in expecting to hear our favorite worship songs and we await to hear a great message; yet our hearts aren’t always tuned to a level of excitement, as we are with other moments.

As I read Psalm 27:8, I imagine how our attitudes towards our Father and the things He loves, affects Him. God says “to seek my face” and our heart’s response should be one of excitement that the Lord of Lords, and King of Kings would readily choose to be in relationship with us.

Let’s desire to be like David in this Scripture, and seek the face of our Father; not because we are in need of things which He is already aware of, but because we are in need of more of Him and less of ourselves.

PRAY

Father, I thank You for loving me even though I often get into a routine of things, and lose excitement for church and You. I ask that you help me to seek more of You and to have a heart that is in tune and excited to be with You. I ask that You forgive me for allowing anything to bring me more excitement than being in community with You. Help me to seek Your face and do so with honor and excitement. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
