Confident in Personal Giftedness

Galatians 6:3-5

“How in the world did that person get published? I write much better than they do. Can you believe that that mediocre guy got hired for that key leadership position? Will actual talent ever get rewarded in the real world? I’ve come up with more creative, innovative ideas in ten minutes than that guy has come up with in his entire life!”

Know someone like this who toots their own horn, always comparing themselves to others, getting more and more bitter and angry? In Jesus’ family there’s absolutely no room for sibling rivalry and comparison to others. Our Heavenly Father makes each one of his children unique and has his own specially tailored plan where we need to fit. No one fits into the role we are supposed to play and we need to examine ourselves daily to make sure we’re playing that role well.

So today, no immature strutting around and comparing ourselves to others. Instead, the Apostle Paul exhorts us to become spiritual adults, carry our own load, and take pride in the gifts Jesus has given individually to us.

“If anyone thinks he’s something, when he’s nothing, he deceives himself. Each one of us needs to test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each should carry his own load.” Galatians 6:3-5

LORD, help me to rest secure in your love today so I won’t act out my insecurities by comparing myself to others and either getting depressed because I think others are better or delusional by thinking inflated thoughts about my gifts and abilities. I need your Spirit to live out the Law of Christ towards others.
