Are You Listening?
 By Christie Davis

Call to me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3 KJV

It has been said that the average person makes over 2,000 decisions in one day. From picking out what you are going to wear that morning (not that one, or that one) to what time you are going to set the alarm that night.

Some decisions don’t require a lengthy prayer time, while others seem to involve many endless nights of one-on-one conversations with our Father. It is those heart wrenching decisions that we so desire to find the path that the Lord has planned for us.

In our deep search, we often lose hearing the voice of God and wonder, “Where is He? Why doesn’t He send me a clear answer? Or possibly a billboard sign?”

In those times Jesus has never left our side. In Hebrews 13:5 He reminds us, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” He is there, whatever place you’re at, and He will always answer. But are we really listening?

Are we avoiding whatever answer that may be? Jesus knows our hearts and what is best for us. Romans 8:28 tells us that “All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.”

He is giving you that still small voice. He may even be speaking to you through Godly friends or mentors. He may tell you yes, no, or wait. And boy, do we hate to wait!

Sometimes, He is waiting for us to get past our own agendas and truly seek His will. No matter what the answer, if we seek Him with all our heart, He will guide us in every area of our lives… even which outfit we should wear in the morning.

Jesus is ready to speak to you and tell you the plans He has for you. Are you ready to listen?

Precious Heavenly Father, thank You for listening to us. Forgive us for not giving You the same courtesy. As we go through rest of this day please allow us to hear Your voice. Quiet our souls and help us to avoid the things distracting us from You. May we always be aware of Your desire to be involved in every single detail of our life. Nothing is too insignificant for You. For it’s in Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
