The Last Day is the Lord’s day
Pastor Daron Lindemann
Do you feel just a little anxiety about where you will be on judgment day, how you will respond to the global chaos, and what kind of forms you will need to fill out at the pearly gates? What if you choose door number two instead of door number three? What if you mess it all up and miss out on heaven forever?
Similar to a promotional brochure for the perfect vacation, the Bible answers any anxiety about judgment day and heaven, not with every specific detail but with a few select pictures and truths. So don’t worry about it.
God will not miss the slightest technicality when it comes to taking believers to heaven. Your perseverance through earthly life, as well as your perpetual heavenly life, are both in God’s hands. “You will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God.” How? Well, it’s “God’s judgment,” not yours. And, by the way, his judgment is “right” (2 Thessalonians 1:5).
Judgment day is the “day of the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 5:2). It’s not the day of the most powerful nation on earth or the day of a flu epidemic that fatally puts an end to the world’s population or the day of your worst fears. It belongs to the Lord. He will take care of all who, by faith in his promises, want his help. He will raise the dead. He will send his angels to escort all believers everywhere safely through the chaos.
The Lord God will not mess it up. That’s a promise.
