. . . so the hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken,
as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind.
(Isaiah 7:2 NIV)
Like Isaiah’s generation, we too experience dread about our inadequate defenses against approaching disasters. In our best attempts, we isolate and insulate ourselves from them, wondering if there’s a place where we can be protected. God’s words suggest that He notices you have a lot of fear. You fear disasters, inadequate defenses, and the adversaries that march up against you. The only relief for your life is belief. It’s amazing that there’s so much difficulty in getting Christians to truly embrace these words: “If you can but believe.”
