“Do not remember the former things . . .”

    (Isaiah 43:18)

To all of the people of Israel Isaiah was essentially saying, “Remember that God can do all kinds of things. But forget the ways in which God did them.” Why? Because God is the Creator, and He doesn’t have to do things the same way twice. God is not an idol doomed to repeat the same performance over and over again. God is consistent, but His methods can always be new. If we make an idol of the methods, we condemn the very thing we should be blessing.
