From Praying the Names of Jesus Week Seven, Day Five

The Name
The world has never seen a king like Christ, a ruler mightier than any earthly sovereign and more powerful than the unseen powers of the universe. Though he entered the world humbly, as an infant born in Bethlehem, Magi from the east still recognized him as the newborn king. Though his reign unfolds in hidden ways, he has promised to come again, at which time he will reveal himself unambiguously as "King of kings and Lord of lords." When you pray to Jesus, the King of kings, call to mind his mastery not only over human beings but over nature, disease, and death itself.

Key Scripture
On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords. Revelation 19:16

 Promises Associated with His Name

What are you worried about? Do you need clothes or food or a roof over your head? I own the cattle on a thousand hills. Are you worried about your marriage, your career, your children? I am compassionate toward all I have made. Are you anxious because you don't have today what you need for tomorrow? I open my hand to satisfy the desires of every living thing. Are you sick or sorrowful? For you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. Are you lonely or fearful?

I am with you always, to the very end of the age. These are the promises of our great and faithful King. Pray for the grace today to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you as well.

Promises in Scripture

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?' or ‘What shall we drink?' or ‘What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:28 - 33

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 - 11

Continued Prayer and Praise

Prepare for the King's return. (Matthew 24:9-14; Luke 19:11-26; 1 Timothy 6:11-16; 2 Peter 1:5-11)

Inherit the kingdom. (Matthew 25:31-43)

Praise the greatest of all kings. (Revelation 11:15; 15:1-4; 17:12-14)
