Read Matthew 6:25-34

“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (vv. 31-33)

When you put God first in your life and follow his call, you never need to be anxious about money!

That statement sounds ludicrous to our secular mindset, doesn’t it? It sounds irresponsible. How can I say such a thing?

Read the last sentence of the verses above again. Isn’t that exactly what God is saying to you today? He isn’t saying, “Don’t work hard”. Nor is he saying, “Don’t prepare for the future”; or “Don’t pay your bills”; or “Don’t provide for your family”. But he is saying, “Do not worry”—don’t be anxious!

Read the following statement very carefully and take it in: When you put God and his work in this world first in your life, then God takes responsibility for providing for your needs. God does not promise to provide for your needs if you do not put him first. You are rightly anxious if that is the case.

But if you have put him first in your life and are willing to wait for him, he will provide for your needs. He’s promised!
